Pleasant Avenue / Devoe Family Burial Ground

The Pleasant Avenue Cemetery was a small, family cemetery used between 1840-1884. The cemetery, also referred to as the Devoe Family Burial Ground, is located just east of the Happy Montessori School. The original number of headstones is unknown as the earliest recorded count of headstones wasn’t until 1910. During the count in 1910 there were 37 headstones, only 5 of which still stand.

It can easily be found on this section of a 1914 map found in our collection, in the  Belcher Hyde Atlas of Long Island:

1873 Beers, Comstock & Cline, NYC
