Main Street School

The story of Port's first high school is coming soon!  In the meantime, enjoy this rare view taken by local photographer John Witmer, whose collection of glass plates and negatives is part of the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society.

This image shows the school under construction in 1908.

Click on this link and you will be transported to the roof of
Landmark on Main Street, once known as Main Street School,  and before that as Port Washington High School!

Below, watch a recorded Zoom presentation on the origins of Main Street School, as given by Chris Bain, President of the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society in November, 2020
