2026 is America’s 250th anniversary. Port Washington (originally known as Cow Neck) was established in 1644 as a farming community and later a sandmining center that supplied material for New York City’s skyscrapers. Port’s history is long and rich, leading us to the incredible waterfront community we are today.
-
-
We are running a poster contest to have the students of Port Washington share historical highlights from Port Washington’s history.
-
Two Divisions: Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-12).
-
Open to all Middle and High School Students who are Port Washington Residents (including private school students who reside in Port Washington).
-
The contest will be focused on PW’s history, however, posters can include history of culture (including arts, athletics, business, hobbies), and the PW education system.
