The Sands Point Preserve in my opinion is a very nice place to visit. There is everything from castles to beautiful sandy beaches. There are also several remarkable hiking trails. I enjoy going therefor a picnic every once and a while. The Preserve throws wonderful children's birthday parties. When I am there I always love to take a look at the exhibits or shows.
According to the Sands Point Preserve website there are 216 acres made up of woods and beach. The cliffs wereformed by glaciers. Ul‑hen you go there you can see that they are eroding. The castles there were originally houses built in the 1 920's for 2 wealthy families. A er the husband passed away it became a training area for the Navy. Nowitisownedby the Nassau County Parks Association and it is opened to the public.
When I walk through one of the beautiful trails Ifeel privileged to have such beauty so close to my home. Ifeel so adventurous andfree when I hike there. I love thefeeling of being around nature. I like to climb on the stumps offallen trees. I like looking at all the different species of trees and plants. All of the trees hel our environment by producing p oxygen.
ft's also fun to visit the beach when you are there. The cool ocean breeze feels good on a hot day. I love the feeling of the damp sand in between my toes as I walk. Collecting sea glass is one of many fun things to do on the beach there.
There are so many nice places in Port Washington but above all I like the Sands Point Preserve. I think that when you go there you will have a wonderful time.
